  キリストも 釈迦マホメットも芸術の 嗜みなかりき惜しとこそ思ふ
101

Unfortunate that
Christ, Shakyamuni,
Nor Mahomet
Found the time
To pursue the arts.

#1, S6-317A

    如何ならむ 教といへど芸術を 外に天国造り得べしや
102 How can any teaching,
Even those with claims
For greatness or universality,
Construct a paradise on earth
If the arts are slighted?
#2, S6-S6-317B

How can any
Teaching that does not
Include art
Construct a
Paradise on earth?

Sounds of the Dawn translation
Without consciousness / Of all the beauty of art, / How could a teaching / Construct any perfect world, / Build a paradise on earth?

芸術の 伴はざれば天国を 造る教にあらじとぞ思ふ

103 No teaching is there
To construct paradise on earth
That is not
Accompanied
By the arts.
