Enjoying Life

One of Socialist Party Chairman Tetsu Katayama’s first utterances upon his recent return from abroad was that at present in all areas throughout Europe and North America, people are sick and tired of war and are trying very diligently to avoid conflict, so their goal right now is in short to enjoy life. This phrase, “enjoy life,” is the actual state of the world of Miroku that is also our ideal.
Today, however, the world is no place in which to enjoy life. Such a proposition is the dream of idiots, and the reality is nothing other than suffering throughout life.
When we open our eyes and look out at society, what envelops human beings are countless aspects of pain and suffering. Whether it be international relations or the politics, economy, education, and thought of one nation, there is not one thing that can be said to be good and only sources of suffering.
It is one of the most difficult of difficult tasks to completely resolve and save humanity from the hellish world described above. To date, neither religion, science, education, morality, so-and-so ism, nor such-and-such movement has had any result. It is as if the world has been trying to put out a large fire with a bucket of water. Therefore, all that is left to truly save the world must be a great, unprecedented power.
Readers, though, take note! The dream depicted in the preceding paragraph is in the process of being manifested. That process is the appearance of the Japan Kannon Church which is the power of Almighty God. It is the power of world salvation that has been expected by all humanity for thousands of years. As this power has become manifest, for the first time, an age as described by Chairman Katayama in which life can be enjoyed will come. It is developing in front of our eyes. Even so, not unreasonable is that this goal is probably found difficult to believe. Still, we carry on our activities with absolute conviction.
