Great Construction

Anonymous Letters

Many varieties of letters containing both praise and censure of World Messianity are said to arrive at the desks of the authorities and the major newspapers. Just the other day, a reporter from one of the major newspapers brought, out of the many that they had received, a representative sample, and requested that I explain each one of the items raised in the letters. I looked at them carefully and saw that they were anonymous, so I refused, saying that it was meaningless to reply to such irresponsible letters. He persisted, explaining he wanted information for further study, but as I listened to each of his points, they were all such nonsense that not only did they deserve only laughter, there was no way to answer. I have no choice but to resign myself to the fact that in this busy world of ours, there are such individuals of leisure. To get the reporter of a major newspaper to come all the way down to Atami and bother me is surely one kind of sin.
It is not just the major newspapers, however, whom these people of leisure pester. They probably send such letters to the government authorities in charge of religion as well. When we pause to consider what may be the intention of writers in sending anonymous letters, it is probably a stratagem based on jealousy and envy of colleagues or the individuals themselves who may have been adversely affected in some way due to the growth of World Messianity.
On another level, just several months ago, a group engaged to commit blackmail on a large scale against World Messianity, using one technique and another, involving a noted person and large amounts of money. Our organization stubbornly refused to deal with these people who thus could do nothing, and now, looking back, I see that they did not give up, but have used various other methods including anonymous letters, to continue to bother us, which I have learned from information I received from certain quarters. The Pharisees pester and interfere with World Messianity because it has shown sudden unprecedented growth, so from one aspect, such negative activities are inevitable.
Particularly unavoidable because the various degrees of insular consciousness in the Japanese of today, as well as because of the fact that among politicians and other leaders and journalists there are many who lack a sense of justice and are prone to be ruled by their self-interest and emotions. As long as individuals of a noble character who have nothing to be ashamed of are as rare as stars at dawn, I feel keenly that the prospects for the reconstruction of Japan are not good.
World Messianity steadfastly supports justice, so whatever machinations of obstruction are brought about by wrongdoers, no quarter will be given. No matter how eminent the newspaper, we will vigorously combat any attempt to perpetuate any mistakes and will not lay down our weapons until our cause is understood.
The primary purpose of religion should be to encourage good, chastise evil, and construct a bright, cheery peaceful world for which, needless to say, good must prevail. The objectives of World Messianity are comprehensively presented in its various periodicals, so when making critiques or criticism of World Messianity, any questions or doubts should first be addressed by carefully reading through our literature. That is to say, almost all of those who visit and question us with doubts about World Messianity have not read any of our publications.
