Great Construction

The Primary World

When we come to scrutinize contemporary civilization, the basis of its structure consists, needless to say, of material science, and that topic I would like to pursue in detail here.
To discuss material science as presently being fundamental in our culture, the issue of how the universe is formed must first be explained. I will not go into all details, omit those which do not directly concern human beings, and address only the important points. What we know as the universe consists of three elements, the sun, the moon, and the earth. When I speak of these three elements, I am referring to the spirit of fire, the spirit of water, and the spirit of earth, which are embodied in the three worlds: the world of spirit, the world of atmosphere, and the world of phenomenon, and the true state of affairs is that these three worlds fuse and harmonize. Until the present day, however, only two of the three worlds, that is, the world of atmosphere and the world of phenomenon (the world of substance) were known. That in addition to these two worlds, there was another, the spiritual world, was not understood. That is because it is not possible to grasp the spiritual world by any means in material science. Therefore, what has been achieved by the progress based on a knowledge of only these two worlds has been the material civilization that is our present world, so we have a civilization only two thirds complete.
Who could have known, however, that it is this very one third of the universe, the spiritual world, which has been considered not to exist, that is in fact more important than the other two thirds and the center of fundamental power or energy. To ignore this significant one third of the universe is to make impossible the birth of a complete civilization. To be sure, in spite of the tremendous advances of this two-thirds culture, that humanity’s greatest demand, that for happiness has not accompanied this progress illustrates clearly the impossibility. Therefore, if the fundamentals of this contradiction are now investigated thoroughly, there will be discovered a profound reason for this ignorance. That reason is that is is quite certain that the wonderful advances of material civilization which can be seen today could not have been accomplished if humanity had known from the start about the primary world of spirit. Indeed, it was the ignorance of the spiritual world that gave rise to atheistic thought from which generated evil that gave rise to the fight between good and evil. While humanity continued to be tormented by suffering and pain, in the end was inevitably caused to come about the development of materialistic culture. What is this if not the profound economy of God?
Material culture has progressed to a certain level and if it were to continue on its present path, the result will give rise to the destruction of culture. One manifestation of this assertion is the discovery of the atomic bomb. This discovery is only one sign, but to have come this far shows that it is the time that a great transition must be conducted in the progress of culture. The first step in this transition is the clear description to all the world of the existence of the spiritual world which has so far been taken to be nonexistent. Even so, as the spiritual world does not have substance, a method of clearly showing that existence is impossible through science. Here is called for the exertion of a power hitherto not experienced in the history of humanity. What I am referring to is the power of God. However, as contemporary people have over a long period come to be focused on the primacy of substance, on the material, much difficulty accompanies efforts at persuasion. To convince the contemporary individual is the unique method of World Messianity’s miracles. These are the miracles worked in the practice of the Johrei of World Messianity. Through the experience of these miracles, even the most ardent atheist cannot but immediately accept the reality of divine miracles. Consequently, when this reality has become known to all of humanity, a true civilization shared by the whole world will come to be born and without further ado, contemporary culture will undergo a complete change.
As this transition is effected, however, there remains one troubling problem. This problem is that the culture that has come to us today, having been constructed over the thousands and thousands of years, has been accompanied by so much sin and evil, the amount is immeasurable. Evil and sin of course refers to the impurities on the spiritual body. These have accumulated to such a degree that, left as they are, would be an obstacle to the construction of a new world. It is as when building a new house, and sawdust, chips, and other varieties of rubbish are strewn about the construction site, that a cleansing activity must be conducted. Such a cleansing is only inevitable. This is what Jesus Christ was talking about when he referred to the last judgment.
As can be understood from the above, what else is it but the plan of God that through the manifestation of countless numbers of wonderful miracles of World Messianity is causing to be acknowledged and recognized the existence of the primary world. God has entrusted to me this great task.
