Great Construction

I am now in the midst of writing a major book, Creation of Civilization. By way of a preview, I present the “Preface” here.

“Preface,” Creation of Civilization

This volume is a major sacred work whose likes have not been seen in all of history. In a word, it is a set of plans for the new civilization. This book is also the good tidings of heaven. It could be called the bible for the twentieth century as well. In other words, our present civilization is not a true civilization, it is only a temporary one until the birth of the new, and the end of the world mentioned in the Bible refers to the end of this provisional civilization. The prophecy “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come” probably refers to the appearance of this book. The Bible is a collection of writings compiled by Christ’s followers about what he did and said, but this volume is a direct revelation from the Father in heaven, Jehovah, about which Christ repeatedly made mention. Another point is that Christian scriptures also give warning. That warning is “Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Thus, Christ did not say that he himself would construct a heaven.
I, however, do not say that heaven is approaching. I say that it is already come. This is best illustrated by the basic preparations for heaven that I am presently undertaking, although on a very small scale. Daily I manifest astonishing miracles at which all who witness marvel. As the divine economy of this prototypical work I described above gradually develops, the curtain closes on the global reckoning of the accounts of the old civilization. This settlement is the beginning of the last judgment, whose main aim is to distinguish and separate good and evil. In other words, the world is entering the stage where evil perishes and good flourishes. This judgment will result in a large number of victims, most likely beyond counting. Still, God’s great love will keep this number as low as possible for which the publishing of this book is the first call for salvation. In distinguishing good from evil, right from wrong, God will pick out those who are good and useful to remain from the old civilization, and it is only unavoidable that those who are evil with no prospect of salvation will perish forever.
Thus, when the last judgment has been settled, the next stage is of course the planning of the coming new world, and during the period of transition, the rebuilding of every aspect of civilization will unfold on unprecedented scale. Needless to say, this stage will be the correction of the errors of the previous civilization as well as indication of policy for the new civilization. There is, however, a tragic aspect to this phase. That is, there are the sins and impurities that humanity has accumulated over the past long several thousands of years, and naturally a great action will be activated to purify them. The subject of this book is to explain in detail the action and activity of purification in all respects. Readers of this book have fortunately had the lifeline of salvation thrown to them. All they have to do is without hesitation make an effort to catch hold of this valuable help. I inform humanity of things to come, and as God’s deputy, urge repentance and reformation. My work can be nothing other than the great love of God. Those who have learned of this news must not wait a moment too long to realign their way of thinking and, just as importantly, begin to prepare themselves mentally. The final judgment of evildoers who do perish and those with lesser amounts of sin who will be saved will be definitive, so those who believe will gain eternal life and will remain as residents of the paradise on earth of the future. This book will provide adequate knowledge for and allow the attainment of conviction of just how profound and great is the scale of the administration of the Creator and also of just how low has been the level of our most barbaric civilization.

Meishu-sama had the essay “Jobun, Bunmei no Sōzō,” read at meetings with members in July and August of 1952, and later published it in Eikō, Issue 170, August 20, 1952. The essay was later included in the teachings anthology for ministers Goshinsho: Shūkyō-hen (Divine Writings: Volume on Religion), March 25, 1954, page 375. In the version of the final manuscript that did not appear until 1971, the last half of the essay has been entirely rewritten. Although a translation of the Eikō version has not appeared, a translation of the Bunmei no Sōzō (Creation of Civilization) manuscript version is given below for reference.
