Great Construction

The Errors of Present Culture

It would be fair to say that, as described in the preface, this volume is an atomic bomb aimed at the culture of today. The target of this atom bomb includes the core of present-day culture, that is, religion, thought, philosophy, education, material science, and art. Sharp focus will be applied to the root and branch of each of these areas, with thorough investigation and critique conducted to frankly reveal errors, such that, of those who do read this book, there will probably be some who are not able to disrobe their old clothes and change to new ones. This is the sense in which this volume is meant to open the eyes of individuals, and thus cause a great sensation in existing culture that will make inevitable a change of one hundred and eighty degrees in direction for our world. When completed, this volume will be distributed using appropriate channels to religious leaders all over the world, to all universities and academic societies, to leaders in public opinion, and to other famous people. I would also like to send copies of the book to members of each committee of the Nobel prizes, but regretfully, as each of these individuals is an authority in the material sciences, they would probably have trouble comprehending it. Still, this book clarifies also the fundamentals of science, and as it is eternal truth, there is no reason it should not be understood after careful examination and consideration.
In respect to existing culture, an important factor down to the present are the brains of scholars. In their heads, scholars have treated religion and material science as separate entities, and it is this very way of thinking that was a great mistake, so it is the goal of this work to fundamentally elucidate this point. Every thing, all in creation on this planet is formed of two antithetical aspects. They can be thought of as yin and yang, light and dark, front and back, or spirit and body. Learning until today, however, has only recognized the surface, body, the physical aspect and has completely ignored the aspect of spirit. Such is because spirit is not visible to the human eye so it was not measurable by means such as instruments, and it is for this reason that learning has only been able to grasp that on the surface of the planet exists atmosphere (“empty energy”) and electricity (“lightening energy”). I have discovered, however, that in addition to these two aspects, there definitely exists another, third aspect, “spiritual energy.”
To explain spiritual energy, I will begin with the actual conditions of the atmosphere that surrounds the planet. The two aspects, elements of spiritual energy (fire) and atmosphere [“empty energy”] (water), just described, fuse and unite to form something akin to a gaseous body, and this gaseous body also includes the lump (earth) that is a solid body. These three elements fuse and are situated in the middle of the universe that is the world and the surrounding environment in which we live. Material science recognizes the atmosphere and earth only, and because it did not recognize spiritual energy, research and progress has continued to focus only on the two elements of atmosphere and earth. Science, in other words, understands only two thirds of the whole. Because of this fundamental defect, no matter how much progress and development is touted, as long as human awareness and knowledge strays from this trinitarian truth, learning and reality will continue to contradict each other as they do today. There is no way an ideal, civilized world will come about as long as this defect is not discovered and rectified.
To describe in further detail the relationship among these three elements, vertically are arranged spirit, air, and earth which is well illustrated in the locations of the sun, moon, and earth. Horizontally, that is, on a plane, the three elements fuse overlapping each other, with absolutely no distance between, and become a whole, that is, the earth, that is floating in the atmosphere. Of course, each of these three elements differs in function and movement. That is, fire burns vertically, water flows horizontally, and the earth is an immovable object. That the earth is an immovable object is not absolute, but it is immovable within the amount of motion necessary for breathing. Within this environment, ultrafine particles flow in a twill-like condition both vertically and horizontally, and with the planet earth in the center, circulate and move. Because this something that flows is akin to emptiness and to nothing, it is not at all within the grasp of the present level of material science. But astonishingly and unforeseen, it is actually this flowing current that is the source of power in all creation whose essence is truly mystical and spiritual beyond imagination.
In Buddhism, those who have come to understand a part of this reality are known as those who have attained enlightenment. Those who understand more than this are known as those who have attained great enlightenment. Those of great enlightenment who have come to thoroughly understand have reached the state known as seeing true reality. Shakyamuni and Christ both belong to this category, but because the times in which these two lived were still premature, they were given only a certain amount of power. Therefore, it was unavoidable that they lacked the power to fulfill total world salvation. The evidence for this is clear when seen, not just in these two saints, but for all the efforts of the many of those enlightened ones who followed in their footsteps, that even now the sufferings of humanity have still not yet been resolved. The time has come, however, for me to appear, bestowed with absolute power and entrusted with the great mission of conducting the salvation of humanity. Thus, I teach the most profound aspects of truth and carry out the last salvation for humanity. I perform the function of guiding the planning for a new, civilized world, so what I do is indeed good news of great scale, unprecedented for all of humanity.
To return to the main topic, when the situation of our culture based on a bias for material substance is examined overall through the eyes of seeing the truth of reality, indeed the glittering culture that we know today has been created and has progressed on account of this bias, so the contradiction between body and spirit is indeed the height of mystery. This very mystery is nothing other than the economy of God. To put it in simple terms, as previously explained, the civilization we have enjoyed until today has succeeded in the physical aspects, but it has been a failure in the spiritual aspects. Why God did not create from the very beginning a complete civilization without shortcomings of any sort is a question that I explain in this volume. If my explanation is followed carefully, the answer to that question should be obvious.

“Kisei Bunka no Byūten,” never published while Meishu-sama lived, was slated, after “Preface,” to be the first chapter of the first, introductory part of Bunmei no Sōzō (Creation of Civilization), which as a whole was never published while Meishu-sama was alive. A translation of “Kisei Bunka no Byūten” has appeared and citation is given below for reference.
