Poems in Eikô, Issue 211
June 3, 1953

  美はしき 文化の衣に着飾りて 醜の身隠す人こそ哀れ
157

Pitiful indeed are
The people who
Dress up in garments of
An elegant culture,
Hiding a corrupt body.

    大方の 盲の眼開かんと 光間配る吾にぞありける
158 To open the eyes of
All the blind,
I, Mokichi Okada,
Spread
The light.
Poem #158 is not carried in Okada Mokichi Zenshû Shikahen (Complete Works of Mokichi Okada, Volumes of Poetry). Its location would properly be between the two poems on page 330 of Volume 6.
It is none other than me who
Distributes the light far and wide
Equally among people,
Intending to open almost
Of their spiritually blind eyes.

弥果てに 万人我悉膝に 鰭伏す時のたのしまれぬる

159 Pleasurable will be
The time when
All people finally
Acknowledge the
Divine and their Creator.
