  地上天国 生れなんとして鎮痛の 悩みの中の現し世のさま

Paradise on earth.

    病なく 貧なく争いなき御代は 学の力でなど得べけんや

Sickness, lacking poverty,
Free of conflict be obtained
By the power of
Human learning alone?

Squirming at the
Bottom of purgatory
Not knowing about the
Birth of paradise!
