Great Construction
Daijo and Shojo (The Glory Excerpt)
“Daijo” is horizontal and “Shojo” is vertical, the former means activity of water and latter that of fire. So “Daijo” endlessly spreads horizontally, and “Shojo” is narrow although deep and high. For example, Christianity is “Daijo” and so is spread all over the world, whereas Buddhism is “Shojo” and so does not spread and is isolated.
“Daijo” is materialistic and “Shojo” is spiritual. Therefore, the civilization of western people has been developed materially through Christainity whereas Buddhistic civilization is spiritual and quietistic, that it is now gradually declining, although it once prospered.
