Great Construction

Society These Days

I am going to tackle the issue of why there are just so many incomprehensible aspects to what we see when we carefully observe society these days. There are various aspects that defy understanding, but probably the greatest one are the many fires of various scales that have broken out around the country. It is said that the financial damage from these fires amounts to considerable sums. Probably anyone would think that there has to be some cause that is unknown to human beings. As well, whether traffic accidents, crashes, derailments, collisions, the resulting damage and harm to human beings and animals is quite considerable. Other aspects are those of a vicious nature such as quarreling over trivial matters, fistfights, and bloodshed. That human life is held in such light regard is something the ordinary person is unable to understand. Hearing of people being killed for insignificant amounts of money, like the recent case where a taxi driver was killed for two thousand yen is becoming too common.
The examples above concern males, but there is much to find fault with females as well. Of these examples, the most abject is the deterioration of the regard for chastity. We do not want to recommend a return to the rigid standards of the feudal period, and what we see nowadays is probably a reaction to those days, but no matter how you look at it, present-day mores have gone too far. Although it could be thought logical that the scene of prostitutes walking with arms clasped around the arms of foreign soldiers proudly out in the open is probably inevitable, most likely there is no one who does not feel a sort of national shame. To describe this in metaphorical terms, the way it should be is that as much as possible effort is made so that the most sordid parts of the human body are not visible to others.
Above I have simply described what came to me, but to speak to the cause of these conditions, this very cause is quite understandable when viewed from the standpoint of our spiritual healing. In all history there has not been an age as this one in which human beings have used so much medicine and drugs. Great amounts of drugs have been ingested into the human body, and because in the living of civilized lives, the brains are so overworked, when ingested, drugs go straight to the brain, accumulate, and solidify there. Because the back of the head and the region of the lower part of the brain stem is where drugs, or poisons, accumulate and solidify, anyone can understand this by touching the areas just mentioned. Dissolving these solidified toxins, these lumps, requires heat. Since these lumps put pressure on the blood vessels of the brain, a light condition of anemia is constantly being created as well as a slight fever that influences the brain and dulls brain activity. For this reason, there is almost no one today who does not have one or more of the following symptoms: suffering from headaches, heaviness in the head, absent-mindedness, irritation, poor mental organization, depression, and pessimistic outlooks. In medical science, these are considered nervous conditions. But what is happening is the activation of the process to eliminate toxic lumps, in other words, purification. Purification is the source of that such as colds, diarrhea, stomach diseases, lung diseases, heart diseases, insomnia, mental illness, dysentery, and children’s dysentery for which medical science, not understanding at all, conducts treatments that cause reverse effects, so there is no reason for the number of these diseases to decrease, they only increase. There is nothing other than the institution of World Messianity that thoroughly understands this principle, and because the technique of Johrei is the only way these conditions can be cured completely, those with the symptoms listed above should quit medicine and come to World Messianity. These conditions will be eliminated as if wiped away, and a bright, cheerful life made possible. Other social issues such as accidents, crimes, poverty, and conflict will dissolve. This is what a religion that creates paradise on earth should do.

“Chikagoro no Sesō” first appeared on the front page of Eikō, Issue 214, June 24, 1953, and was reprinted in the essays anthology for ministers Goshinsho: Shūkyōhen (Divine Writings: Volume on Religion), page 77, March 25, 1954. Although no translations are known to exist, “Chikagoro no Sesō” was also reprinted in the anthology Igaku Kankei Goronbun Shū (Collected Essays on Medical Science) that did enjoy a limited circulation. Igaku Kankei Goronbun Shū contains no publication data, but internal evidence suggests that its editing stopped several months preceding Meishu-sama’s death. Furthermore, since the book lacks publication data, whether the volume had Meishu-sama’s imprimatur or not is unknown, so details concerning this volume are probably impossible to research. Inclusion in Igaku Kankei Goronbun Shū shows that “Chikagoro no Sesō” was determined to belong to the category pertaining to medical science.
