The Sense of Right and Wrong

What I have to say may be all too obvious, but today we live in a world where it turns out that indeed the self-evident is neglected, so it is unavoidable that I address the issue. To begin, when we observe every aspect of our present world, it would be fair to say that almost each and every person has little awareness of right and wrong, hardly any sense of justice at all, that individuals are concerned only with their own benefit. Even so, if once in a while someone were to mention the phrase “right and wrong” or the word “justice” or something similar, not only are they thought to be out of step with the world so not to be taken seriously, rather they are looked down upon. If these attitudes are the basis on which affairs are managed, results will rather be contrary to expectations and accompanied by much failure and misfortune. In spite of the fact that calamities are many and occur over and over again, the tenor of the times today is that repeated calamities are taken to be the way of the world, are not held in any particular suspicion, and that each day is lived mindlessly and mechanically.
But, from our way of looking at things, calamity and misfortune have a clear cause, and the only problem is that the people of the world do not perceive it. This reason is the very topic that I have introduced, a lack of the sense of right and wrong. Most people are constantly bombarded with negative thoughts, their souls clouded, and because their hearts are blind, do not see. For a very long time, I have been cautioning others on all aspects of the fortune and misfortune of human beings, so I know well that there is no mistake in this regard. What, then, is at the basis of a lack of the sense of right and wrong? Not visible to the human eye, the world of spirit does indeed have existence. In this world of spirit is something known as the law of God, and unlike the laws of human beings, with not one speck of favoritism are judged fairly and impartially the deeds of human beings. But as pathetic human beings do not understand either this world or its judgment, and even if they knew about them, do not believe their ears, unknowingly they make themselves the cause of their own misfortune.
Such are the circumstances in which a great portion of people today, clever at saying things, trying to show off only on the surface, suffer continually in efforts to obtain that which is above their own worth. But, as described above, the eye of God shines brilliantly and is able to penetrate to the inner recesses of an individual’s heart. As if a person’s accumulated amount of good and evil were put upon scales and measured, fortune and misfortune are determined for which there is no appeal or recourse. This simple truth is not understood either by the common member of the general public with a low level of cultivation nor by well-known elites with high levels of education, because both these groups look only to the surface, and do not understand the fundamental and vital inner world of spirit. Because of this lack of understanding, what passes for wisdom only in order to deceive the world and cheat people is diligently exercised. It must be called lamentable that this perspective is what is taken for being clever. Such pathetic conduct is evidenced by results that are always opposite to expectations, indeed such individuals do not perceive that matters do not proceed smoothly, and because such thinking pervades from above to below, the number of criminals increases and society is enveloped in anxiety. So whatever is attempted in society, there will be obstacles and failures, and much wasted effort made in vain. Moreover, we often see the examples of such become material for media coverage and there are even instances that result in legal proceedings.
I call the type of people caught up in such experiences, “the cleverly foolish tribe,” and I exert myself in various ways to get these types to awaken, to perceive, and since there is no way to do so other than getting them to recognize the actuality of God, it is most difficult. That is because, as is known, it is particularly those of the contemporary leading classes who think that maintaining atheistic thought is a qualification for being a civilized being. To get individuals to truly understand, some kind of opportunity has to be made and then they have to be shown a miracle. That is why I am utilizing the power that has been given to me by God to continue manifesting astonishing miracles. And, I am very happy that recently these miracles have started to get attention throughout society. As the evidence through these miracles of the principles I outline above becomes more thoroughly recognized, the following will happen. Because justice itself is God and evil itself is the Devil: God equals justice; evil equals the Devil, so essentially God rejoices in happiness and the Devil prefers misfortune. Thus, one’s happiness or unhappiness accords with one’s way of thinking. Fundamental it is to understand this truth to the depths of one’s heart.
From the above it follows that happiness cannot be obtained absolutely unless one takes an awareness of right and wrong, a sense of justice, as one’s fundamental. To make this point, I often say, “Foolish one, your name is evil!” If even just this reasoning is understood, one can then start straight down the path of fortune. But there are conditions. That is, even when we speak of right and wrong, of justice, there is more than one kind. One is a petty justice that takes as its standard the benefit of the individual; another is an intermediate justice which aims chiefly for society and the nation, and then there is the expansive justice that is concerned with the world and society. Justice of the petty and intermediate levels are not true forms of justice, however, they are forms of pseudo justice; expansive justice is the true justice. For example, even in cases of filial piety to one’s parents or loyalty to one’s sovereign, in the final analysis, we would find them based on the interest of the self, so are forms of pseudo justice. In the case of the recent war, Japan lost because its actions were based on pseudo justice that aimed chiefly for its own benefit. Eternal prosperity is not to be had unless it is based on expansive justice that aims for the benefit of the entire world. This is truth. Of course, the same can be said of religion. Religions such as Buddhism and Christianity are in decline nowadays because although they appear to be concerned with expansive justice, they still have to a certain extent defects which until now were not understood.
As my followers know, World Messianity takes as its goal paradise on earth free of disease, poverty, and conflict, so because the main purpose is for the benefit of all humanity, it is the administrator of true, expansive justice.
