The spirit of the sun to which I have just referred is, needless to say, literally the sun’s spirit. The reason the spirit of the sun has not appeared on the planet earth until now has a great mystical cause that I will explain. As I have already described, in the same way that human beings consist of the two elements of spirit and body, every thing on the face of the planet is composed of the two facets of the spiritual world and the physical world.
The spiritual world is also composed of two elements. One is the “world of spiritual energy” and the other is “the world of empty energy,” that is, what we know as the atmosphere. In the world of spiritual energy, fire is primary and water, secondary; in the world of empty energy, that is, the atmosphere, water is primary and fire, secondary. The two elements are as yin and yang, positive and negative. Consequently, the spirit of the sun and the spirit of the moon become one and nurse the planet earth. It is akin to the raising of a child by the cooperation of the father and the mother. Through the trinity of the sun, the moon, and the earth is born natural power, the power of nature that gives birth to and develops all and every thing in creation. This is the true reality of the universe. Furthermore, the center of this universe is its king, the human being, so apart from God, human beings are an existence of the highest level. Therefore, all in creation exists for human beings and has no other raison d’être than to serve human beings.
This is the relationship between human beings and the universe, and it is to this relationship that is approaching a great and astonishing change. This great change is unprecedented in human history. Until now, the world was in night, but now the world of night is about to change to daylight. That dawn is now, and probably there are those who have no idea of what is going on. They will say: night and day are only within twenty-four hours. It is preposterous beyond belief to try to apply them to historical ages, and the idea will probably be laughed down. Which is not unreasonable. Of course, even myself, if I did not know the actual circumstances, the truth, I would think the same thing. I cannot but believe, however, as I have learned truth through divine revelation. Therefore, as this is truth, upon a careful perusal of my explanation, readers should be persuaded.
Thus, enclosing the planet earth are two harmoniously-fused elements, the spiritual-energy world, where fire predominates and water is subordinate, and the atmosphere where water predominates and fire is subordinate. The night and day of twenty-four hours that can be perceived with the five senses of human beings is the physical day and night, but it must be understood that there are spiritual days and nights that transcend the twenty-four hour period. Spiritual days and nights have tremendous significance and are a great mystery of the universe. In other words, it is as if the day-night of the present world were infinitely enlarged, and because the phenomenon is akin to “nothing,” it is incomprehensible to human beings but flows regularly and constantly. Thus, the cycle of day and night occurs on small, intermediate, and large levels every ten, one hundred, one thousand, and every ten thousand years. Each of these levels is further subdivided into three, six, and nine for a total of eighteen subdivisions. This is the reality of the universe. Shakyamuni’s teaching that the world of Maitreya would come in 5.67 billion years, if taken at face value would be too long a period, actually meaningless, so these numbers can be nothing other than a suggestion of this composition of the universe.
To return to the topic of the cycles of day and night, in the world of night that has continued to the present, the presiding element has been the moon, and as the moon represents water and the physical, a materialistic culture has developed, but contrary to the moon culture, the sun, which is spirit and the spiritual, presides in the daylight world. In terms of the good-evil dichotomy, physical is evil and spiritual, good. This is truth. Accordingly, in the world evil has predominated to the present and good was subordinate, but now the world is transitioning into a civilized world where good predominates and evil is subordinate. In other words, because evil was primary and good, subordinate, the hellish world of the present was born, and further continuation of the present hell would, of course, lead to the point of the destruction of humanity. The invention of the atomic bomb is nothing other than one of the hints of the present situation. In this way, the economy of God is so profound that not even a glimpse can be had by human intelligence. I think the preceding has given a pretty good idea of how the world will henceforth proceed. Christ foretold the end of the world and said that the kingdom of heaven was approaching. These are the fundamental conditions for the world absolutely free of disease, poverty, conflict that I proclaim. And as the basis for such a world is the elimination of disease, God has bestowed upon me the key for making that possible, so that is why my chief aim at present is resolving the problem of disease.
It should be clear from the above that this part of divine economy is an unprecedented undertaking, the result of which will be the revolution of civilization, the birth of a second new era. This theory is rather astonishing, and those who read this piece, stunned, will most likely find it difficult to understand, but fact is fact. And, as the time does approach, the best thing that could be done is awaken to the situation as soon as possible.
But an important matter remains. And that is the accumulation of the sins committed and impurities created by evil predominating and good being subordinate during the long period of the development of material culture. To talk about sins and impurities, in the case of human beings, that means physically, medicinal toxins, and spiritually, clouds formed by evil. As the spirit of fire increases in the spiritual world, purification activity will grow more powerful, and finally will take place a decisive resolution, a settlement of accounts, what Christ called the last judgment, a difficult hurdle that must be passed, but if not surmounted will mean the eternal demise of any number of individuals. This pronouncement is not anything new. This forecast is one that has been made by numerous saints and sages for thousands of years. Whether the prophecy is believed or not is up to each individual, but there is certainly no reason to doubt the miracles that are now being presented as proof of what I declare.

“Jōrei wa Kagaku Ryōhō Nari (2)” is the concluding second essay of a pair that bear the same name, separately identified only by “(1)” and “(2)” that was published in Eikō, Issue 247 on February 10, 1954, too late for inclusion in the essays anthology for ministers Goshinsho: Shūkyō-hen (Divine Writings: Volume on Religion), March 25, 1954. Although no published translations are known to exist, this essay was reprinted in the anthology Igaku Kankei Goronbun Shū (Collected Essays on Medical Science) that did enjoy a limited circulation. Igaku Kankei Goronbun Shū contains no publication data, but internal evidence (the fact that essays from Eikō end at Issue 257, April 21, 1954, are the “newest” items included in the anthology) suggests that its compilation stopped several months preceding Meishu-sama’s death. Furthermore, since the book contains no publication data, whether the volume had Meishu-sama’s imprimatur or not is unknown, so details concerning this volume are probably impossible to research.
