The Harm of Medicinal Toxins

As I explained in the previous chapter, “The Spirit Precedes the Physical,” sins committed by human beings become impurities on the soul, and through the intermediary of the mind or heart, become clouds on the spirit. The purification of those clouds is sickness and disease, so it is rather obvious that there is no other way to heal disease than to eliminate those clouds. However, in the West, Hippocrates, and in the East, Shên Nung, the Divine Farmer, became the progenitors of their respective healing arts because they determined it satisfactory when they found they could temporarily ease pain by having sufferers take medicinal substances or herbs. At this point, the fallacy was born. Indeed, when medicines are used, the pain does decrease temporarily, so it was simply assumed that this was the method to heal sickness and disease. To think so was not unreasonable given the level of knowledge at the time. But this way of thinking and its practice has continued to the present, so the ignorance of human beings can only be considered inexplicable.
With my emergence, however, the problem of disease, the source of humanity’s misfortune has been resolved, so it is quite a welcome time in which to be living. As a result, civilization will undergo a change of one hundred and eighty degrees, and it is only natural that the ideal world become manifest.
Because humanity has continued since ancient times to ingest pharmaceuticals as described above,  contemporary peoples are afflicted with pharmaceutical poisoning. As I previously related, since pharmaceuticals are toxic, they remain in the body. All the same, medical science continues to believe that medicinal toxins dissipate naturally from the body, and this way of thinking is a grave error. Actually, it is a fundamental principle that as long as a physical body has life, medicinal toxins do not disappear.
Regarding this phenomenon, let me relate my personal experience. Thirty-six years ago, in order to have a denture fitted, I had a tooth extracted, and into the resulting hole was packed disinfectant. The area around the hole left by the pulled tooth had started to hurt so much that medicine was applied to stop the pain. The pain only increased. For that reason, I went from one reputable dentist to another looking for relief, but no one could help, and the condition only became worse. By that point I had had four teeth extracted, so how horrible the condition was can be imagined. Still, the condition did not improve, and I reached the point where the medicinal toxins reached my brain and caused headache, so I was getting pushed to the fate of either going crazy or committing suicide. Whether it was because heaven did not forsake me, I do not know, but through a certain experience, I realized my suffering was due to medicinal toxins. When I stopped going to the dentist, I gradually recovered to the condition I am in today. Surprisingly, even now, although not as bad as before, there is still some pain, and nearly every day, I channel Johrei to myself. This episode should most likely be enough to demonstrate that medicinal toxins from the body do not disappear even after the passage of several decades.
As can be comprehended from the above, medicinal toxins do not go away. So, what is happening? The Creator fashioned human beings and also made available all the foodstuffs and other materials that they would need to live. For that purpose, not only was the soil and seas and rivers and plants and minerals given that necessary for provision, but also to the atmosphere and all the celestial objects. In the case of foodstuffs, however, one condition was set. That condition was that that which could be consumed and that which should not be consumed were separated and determined. Therefore, for being able to satisfy that condition, human beings were given the sense of taste and what they were supposed to eat was provided with flavor. In addition, varieties and kinds of foodstuffs were provided, and all was fashioned so that human beings could be healthy in the appropriate environment. Nature has been created so that when something becomes necessary, a desire for that something arises, as for example, when the physical body requires salt, one wants to eat salty foods; when the body requires sweetness, the individual wants to eat sweet-tasting foods; and when water is required, the throat becomes dry. At the same time, the digestive system has been fashioned to accommodate that one set condition. That is, that which should be eaten will all be digested, but that which should not be eaten will not be digested and will remain in the body. In line with this principle, pharmaceuticals are foreign substances. Because they are not digested, they remain in the physical body and as they become older, turn into medicinal toxins. The elimination process for these toxins is what is called sickness or disease, so when they become the source of disease and the condition does not promptly heal naturally, pharmaceuticals are further used. Cough, phlegm, mucous, sweat, pus, impure blood, and so forth are all what has been transformed from medicinal toxins, so in this world there is nothing as frightening as pharmaceuticals.
Humanity, which does not know of this, created disease in attempting to cure disease. One would think that this kind of grave fallacy would have been perceived. There is nothing as foolish. It should not be necessary to refer to how much salvation it would be simply to inform the world of this news. First and foremost, medical professionals should trust to my theory and utilize it to treat disease. They would not find one speck of error.
As can be comprehended from reading the preceding explanation, the mistaken interpretation of disease has become the source, not just of leaving disease uncured, it has caused disease and has increased the varieties of diseases today. Additionally, since this fallacy has also become the source of poverty and conflict, a true civilization has no way of being born unless this ignorance is illuminated, clarified. Compared to primitive peoples who did not have medicinal toxins, the health of those today is so inferior, it is beyond comparison. The common lifespan of people in the age of no medicine was above one hundred years which is quite obvious from examination of old records and documents. I had not thought the well-known anecdote of Takenouchi no Sukune living 306 years to be believable, but last year, after perusing the family tree of the Takenouchi family, I found the account to be accurate. Among the Takenouchi family’s ancestors, the longest lived was 349 years; the next, 320 and some-odd years; and the next, 300 and some-odd years. I recollect that Takenouchi no Sukune was next in fourth place. The period I am referring to is between 2,000 and 1,600 to 1,700 or so years ago, so there is no mistake that this period was before Chinese herbal medicines arrived in Japan. Also, the records clearly show that from Emperor Jimmu onward for about one thousand and some-odd years, most Japanese emperors had a lifespan of more than one hundred years.
Recently, the fact that the life span has lengthened in both Japan and the United States is being celebrated, but the cause of this phenomenon is not due to the progress of medical science. There is another reason which I will write about later, but here it is sufficient to understand that the source of all disease is medicinal toxins. There is no mistake that the suffering which accompanies such symptoms as pain, itchiness, fever, discomfort, and so forth all have their cause in medicinal toxins. Of course, the congenital toxins of inherited syphilis, leprosy, small pox, measles, whooping cough, and so forth are also all medicinal toxins which is also validated by my many experiences. Most likely there is not even one in ten persons today who is completely free of disease. Any person picked out in random will be found to have some kind of disease. Households of several persons that do not have an invalid are said to be rare. There is probably almost no household that does not have one or two of its members hospitalized during a yearly period, and most likely to be rare is the person who does not take even a drop of medicine at least once a year. Thus have contemporary people come to have weakened physical bodies, so they are quite fearful of disease, and due to this fear, potentially quite enormous are the effects from expenditure, anxiety, and effort.
Therefore, I can declare that if all the pharmaceuticals in the world were thrown into the sea, it would be from that point that sickness and disease would gradually decrease, and after several decades would be the realization of a world free of disease.
Next, I will discuss major diseases. The basic functions of the human body are indeed embodied in the heart, the lungs, and the stomach, and since I have covered the basic functions of the lungs in the preceding chapters relating to tuberculosis, I will first start with commenting on the heart and stomach.

“Yakudoku no Gai” was specifically written to be the fourteenth chapter in the second part (on healing) of Bunmei no Sōzō (Creation of Civilization), a manuscript that remained unpublished while Meishu-sama was alive. A translation of “Yakudoku no Gai” has appeared whose citation is given below for reference.
